The clash between supporters of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and supporters of Sen. Ahmed Makarfi left at least one person injured at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat.
Clash started with exchange of verbal insults shortly after supporters of Sen. Sheriff appears at the secretariat beating drums and blowing trumpets that seems to have angered the supporters of Sen. Makarfi.
The reporter at the scene of the clash observed that after the initial exchange of unsavoury pleasantries the Makarfi supporters suddenly brought out some matchets and defended on the unsuspecting Sheriff’s supporters.
Before the Sheriff supporters could react one person was attacked with a matchet on the side of his face before they fled.
Makarfi supporters had arrived the Wadata building that has housed the PDP national secretariat for years since 6 am chanting pro Makarfi songs while carrying placards that described Sheriff as a traitor, an APC agent and saying ‘Makarfi must stay’.
Sheriff supporters arrived the scene at around 11 am had to immediately retreat apparently planning to regroup and launch a reprisal attack.
