The Bukas and Joints enters Season 2

The After a successful season 1, Nigerian food show Bukas and Joints, produced by Biola Alabi Media and hosted by Olisa Adibua, begins the 13-episode season 2 next week.

Show which will air on Sundays by 7pm  on AIT will also air on the Africa channel in the US, Caribbean and Canada and on DStv and 18 African countries in this season.

In the episode screened, the show’s host, Olisa Adibua, takes viewers to joints in Surulere, in the mainland of Lagos. He checks out 01 Shawarma which specialises in making Shawarma and Laptop, an after-hours joint specialising in delicacies such as Isi-Ewu (Goat head) and point and kill (catfish pepper-soup). 

And in company of popular singer Dr. Sid, whose hit track, Surulere is like an anthem in that part of Lagos, the duo also explores Bush Flavour, an evening joint which offers various treats as barbecued meat and fish delicacies.

Interacting with the press during the screening, Biola Alabi, CEO of Biola Alabi Media, who is also the creator and executive producer ofBukas and Joints disclosed that the new season will take the show which is sponsored by Coca Cola, Heritage Bank, UAC Grand Oil and Nestle Maggi, to Ibadan, Oyo State and also to London.

“We also want to show how Nigerians are eating and how people are embracing Nigerian foods outside of Nigeria,” said Alabi. “The second season of Bukas and Joints is expanding its reach beyond the confines of our continent. 

There are a lot of untold stories behind the evolution of our cuisines over time, and we are looking to get a global perspective on the imprints our cuisines have made over different cultures.”

Biola Alabi oversaw the production of Big Brother Africa, Face of Africa and the first ever Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, while serving as the managing director of MNET Africa.
