The Confederation of African Football (CAF) yesterday released the fixtures for the qualifiers of the second edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, tagged Nigeria 2016.
The qualifiers will see 14 teams battling for the seven places for the final tournament scheduled to hold from December 13 to 18, 2016.
The teams in contention are Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Egypt, Liberia, Libya, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
According to CAF, there will be only one round of qualifiers where seven teams will emerge to join host Nigeria for the final tournament.
The finalists at the continental championship will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from April 27 May 7, 2017 in the Bahamas.
Madagascar beat Senegal 2-1 on penalties to win the 2015 championship held in Seychelles.
According to the draws held in Cairo, Egypt, Cape Verde will host Senegal on the weekend of 26, 27 and 28 August, 2016, while the return leg will hold in Senegal on the weekend of September 16,17 and 18, 2016.
At the same period, Uganda will host Egypt, Liberia plays Morocco, Tanzania battles with Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya host Ghana, Mozambique entertains Madagascar, while Sudan will battle against Libya for the final ticket. All the matches will be on home and away basis.
